I’m having lots of different faces up in my gallery exhibit, of people whom I’ve met and interviewed. They each have a bit of wisdom to share, so here’s my take:
Life wouldn’t be made possible without love. I think we find love through the people we see everyday and maybe even more so. I think we just find it on the streets, in the airport, and in line at the checkout. I’ve been touched by more generosity, thoughtfulness and compassion than I ever dreamed of. Maybe that’s just me, but I see love everywhere. And it’s important to not forget that people ARE people…and we’re just a small speck. But we are important! We’re just not alone. Perspective…that’s the most important thing.
The thing that bugs me the most when people say riding isn’t a sport is that, after an hour of practice of soccer what do you do? Or football? You shower and drink and rest. After an hour of riding, you’re still responsible for your partner. Before you can drink or rest or change, you have to care for the huge animal that is equally as hot and sweaty as you. In other sports, after practice is over you quit. In riding, when practice is over you’re only half done.
